As the flute produces a lydian scale which becomes chromatic after the 6th degree, one can see the roots of Jazz right at the beginnings of time.
In this video clip the flute is made out of a piece of dry kelp (Euclonia Maxima) found on the beach in Muizenberg (Cape Town) in South Africa but traditional materials include the stem of the Paw-Paw tree, bamboo, river reed, the bark of the wild cabbage tree and of the willow tree...
The instrument is the original "Magic Flute" and every culture around the world has created its own music on it.
