a common space & database for harmonic overtones

Hey! If you haven't discovered this, it's a phenomenal source, especially for the scientific minded.

Hi Kiva, have you checked this link really? I find more links about harmonics in mathematic than in music. What's your favourite link from all of these 1000 harmonic series links?

Hi Jens
Hopefully one day after a lot of overtone singing the world will realize that maths and music spring forth from the same source (from where also language in its essence flows!)...

Hi Skye, I know that math and music belongs because all is vibration. Have you check the link above? I did it and would like to know if kiva would recommend from these 1000 maybe 10. Less is sometimes more. For example Kiva's recommendations on harmonicovertones.com is very helpful ...

Hello Jens,
Yes, a 1,000 links is simply overwhelming and so far I only checked that it really made a thousand - and it did :-) So with Kivas metalink we have 1,001 whose deeper identity is 7 x 11 x 13. In western tuning theory we have become familiar with 'just tuning' based on the three first primes 2, 3 and 5, so 7, 11, 13 follows in the sequence and emerges as a magic number from an arab culture with great awareness of the role integers play in tuning - and they used them in tonal systems! I am looking so much forward to the day where people stop fruitless focus and speculations on digit sums and possible (most often farfetched) correlation between name and numbers and eventually discover that the genuine and deeper approach to a holistic perspective is found in the world of overtones. I hope that this forum will also play a role in that. So what to do with such an abundance, when we already have a thousand interesting links and inspirations to work with? Maybe a 'link of the day' on start page - not necesarrily from this collection - I am aware that implementation of that idea - as always - implies work... but maybe it could be done with programming and a premade list of links and then ask people to send their suggestions for a second round!? The general problem is - as always - that many of us - after the initial spark when discovering the network - tend to become more passive users and forget the prospect of a shared investigation. I am sure that still this forum really offers this possibility and it is great that you are still alive and kicking and looking for new ways to link us all!
Anyway, I am grateful Kiva, that you shared the info, so that I have yet another option for an eventually boring day!

I see that I've opened up a can of worms here. Today I can't get the link to work. Anyway, I agree with Skye that 1000 links is a bit overwhelming. And I've definitely not looked at all of them. But I recall that in the latter part of the list, there being more spiritually based articles as opposed to the numerous calculus and graph type offerings. Suffice it to say, that I've gone to several places with different focuses, and using links within links, have ended up going off on tangents that proved very useful. I'll get back to you on specific links when the main one starts working again!

The guy who made this list is an insanely hyperactive young genius. It's worth checking out his other numerous lists.
Go to www.heybryan.org (Bryan Bishop)
I discovered that both my sites are mentioned here (#482 and #789), but the latter url extension is outdated. It is to be expected that quite a few on this list no longer exist, depending on when it was compiled.
That said, here are a few that I like:
112, 330, 391 (Dane Rudhyar articles)
124, 151, 185, 466, 645, 697, 786!, 796, 880, 881

Have fun!

Fantastic! I am also very impressed by 786 and while still exploring I should like to call attention to a link which is not represented: Jim Bumgardners realization of John Whitneys idea of a spiral animation where both the visual side and in this particular example also the sound (there are many varieties) is based on harmonics. As it may happen with harmonics at its best it is very simple yet deeply fascinating!

Thanks for that one Skye.
And another one I never expected- about the effects of medications on the voice.

Thank you Kiva and Skye. I am back from a festival and will check the next days your favourite and additional links.
