Event Description

5 days and 25 hours workshop with Johanni Curtet in Aubagne (near Marseille)

English:

Goal:

Did you know that everyone can release multiple sounds with one voice? A khöömiich (Mongolian throat singer) can, by himself or herself, emit a vocal drone and simultaneously perform a melody of harmonics surrounded by various resonances. This acrobatics of the voice seems virtuoso, but it is accessible to all if we are given the keys. Anyone can be introduced to khöömii.

General content:

  • Theoretical elements specific to his ethnomusicological approach (with recordings and supporting images) Exercises of bodybuilding of lips, tongue Special control of the breath
Sound control with and without overtones
Enrichment of the vocal timbre, search for a guttural timbre
Work of listening and musical thought in a Mongolian perspective.

With this method, everyone can leave with a baggage allowing him to develop the art of khöömii seriously, staying closer to the traditional practice and the Mongolian reality.
