Thank you for the question. Each raga has a specific way to approach notes. In this Yaman Kalyani alaap it is within the parameters of the raga to use glissando-like movements in some places. The traditional rendering of the raga would otherwise sound very similar except instead of using overtones they would sing on 'ah' or on chosen syllables such as 're' or 'ri' or 'na'.

Hadn't heard this yet, Rollin, sounds very focused. We'll be going back soon and hope to go to GB as well, perhaps late July or august when you are there. Let's catch up!
