Profile Information

About me:
From primeval times on the fertile regions of the Danube have always been a melting pot of different cultures. As a rich environment and living space for many ancestors: Celts, Germans, Romans and many more Austria was and will always be the central heart of Europe that remains up until today as an intermediary between East and West.

While in Europe of Medieval times epics as the Song of the Nibelungs emerged and drone music has been in full bloom, even in other parts of the world epics and ballads have been recited and the people contacted the otherworld by using ancient instruments and sounds rich in overtones: The Australian aborigines played Didgeridoo, die Siberian shamans played jew´s harp and the indigenous people of Africa played mouth bow.

Following these roots & traditions the Ensemble NAM cross-culturally fuses ancient instruments with an old-european and old-oriental song treasury, modern soundscapes and visionary lyrics to an epic, powerful and atmospheric music reflecting in the mirror of Now...
As a band we are:
Bernhard Mikuskovics (vocals, overtone singing, jew´s harp, didgeridoo, shawms, recorder, whistles, ney, ocarina, drone flute, fujara, horn pipes, dulcimer, dombra, rübab, strumstick, guitar, programming), Georg Baum (celtic harp), Kemalettin Efe (saz), Dominik Johannes Richter (percussion) & Bernd Meyer (Electronics & additional programming)
Instruments:
Vocals, Shawm, Hornpipe, Whistles, Recorder, Ney, Jew´s harp, Dulcimer, Dombra, Rübab, Strumstick, Didgeridoo, Ocarina, Droneflute, Fujara, Overtone singing, Celtic Harp, Saz, Davul, Frame Drums, Percussion, Sounddesign, Keyboards & Programming
Influences:
Old European music, Medieval music, Eastern European folk music, Oriental music, Central Asian music, Ancient cultures & instruments from around the world

Dear Bernhard, you are the only one here thatnoticed that we have Pure Nature Music on board. That shows me. So for tomorrow you will get a star on the main page as a re-featured member of OMN. Could you write me a short text because you are really one of the stars of this network for 09.09.08 - ... what you like - but maybe that you are the dad of three babes here.
Thanks,
Jens

I love your music and hope that I can managed a concert with you here in Berlin and in Göttingen. It was a great pleasure and joy to listen your music at the Woodroot Festival during the Lumen Naturale. I was so deeply impressed by your music - the jews harp playing in duet and the harp and your overtone singing ... I hope that all you members of NAM will join this network. Hope you remember that I gave all of you three after the concert my visit card - it shall be more than a symbolic sign that we will meet us again. Thanks a lot to know you and that you share your music with us.
Your friend,
Jens

Hello NAM, thanks for the music, it is really inspiring. Madosini is really at the very African roots of the overtone wonder but is not recognised in her own country... Anyway, MadoJazz is hoping to finally make a proper recording later this year. Hope we meet sometime. Madosini will be at the Le Reve de l'Aborigene festival in France and at the Forde Festival this year if you get a chance to hear her. Keep well.
