I am a music student at the Hartt School at the University of Hartford, double-majoring in classical double bass performance and music education. I was introduced to throat singing by my high school band teacher, one of the greatest teachers I've had and sure will ever have. I would like to learn to throat sing well, especially Kargyraa but all the other styles as well, and maybe combine overtone-singing with my bass-playing. I'm also excited to see that this community's interests include other overtone-rich instruments, as they interest me as well.
My main instrument is currently the double bass, upright bass, or string bass; I also love to play piano and have gotten a lot better on it since getting to music school; also, as part of my music education coursework, I've learned the basics of playing and teaching trumpet, french horn, trombone, clarinet, alto saxophone, flute, oboe, and bassoon, and will in the near future be taught the basics of other instruments including violin, viola, cello, bass (even though I already play it--mostly for learning to teach, I guess), and various percussion instruments.
System Of A Down, video games, homestarrunner.com, Rooster Teeth, a multitude of movies, Jaco Pastorius, Patrick Smith (high school band teacher), Mom and Dad, close friends from back home, and numerous others.
