Thanks for pointing to the "Metal Chord Structures"-Article! However, on the "beating": Tritone and minor second are not uncommon in today's metal music.

the article is on 'classic' metal. Of course the tritone and minor second were also important then, but mostly as melodic intervals and not as chordal structures.
Of course dissonance plays an important role in metal, and bands like Slayer make frequent chordal use of the tritone, still I´m pretty sure that jazz musicians use dissonant intervalls much more often as parts of chords.
I love the way Andreas Kisser of Sepultura uses beatings on their album 'Roots'.
