I just found out about a great little feature that my music software has - score logging. That means that it saves a 3-minute recording of anything I do, such as play along to a pre-programmed loop, even if I am not sending my playing to a recording channel. The log can then be added to the multi-track after the fact, if I decide that the keyboard performance was particularly well-improvised.
How many times have I just "jammed" and not hit the record button? How many cool sounding jam sessions have I not recorded just because I never expected them to be as good as they turned out? Never again!
Now this makes my stuff more intuitive, I think, because I can "instant replay" my last performance rather than trying to re-play it from memory, which usually sacrifices some "feeling".
Simply awesome of the programmers to consider such a thing!

Yes yes... I am less prolific than I used to, but I am creating things. Slowly. Tediously.
