Haha, great story! I startes practising more again, but I seem to have some voice problems... I'll see a doctor soon.
Noone ever is amazed when I throat sing, all I get is polite interest... Maybe that's due to some german mentallity, I don't know. Except for this one guy who said: "Is there anything you CAN'T do?" :D
I grew 10 cm... ;-)

To the untrained ear, I suppose it's very similar... A few friends who heard me do it (or who clicked Huun-Huur Tu links I sent them) commented that it's at least very similar to didg sounds...
Lots of people heard didgeridoo before, but not Kargyraa, so they don't have anything else to compare it to...

On a different note (no pun): My co-worker of a few years, Scott, plays music from his computer during work. He basically provides the musical backdrop for our work days. He played "Iron Man" on Friday morning, which we all know and like. It was the perfect opportunity to Kargyraa along with it, which was the first time our newer guy, Andrew, heard me throat sing. I don't think I ever seen bigger eyes than his when he said "do you have a distortion amp hidden somewhere?" And I just shook my head and sang "Arte Sayyir" for him quickly... He almost fell off his chair...

Hey guys, there is a question I want to aks you. Everytime I demonstrate Kargyraa to someone not familiar with this style, they are like "Oh, hey, you sound like a didjeridoo!" Am I the only one who gets that comment? I don't think Kargyraa sounds like a didj at all!

Ah, thank you! I'm still not having full control, but what do you expect after only one week of practising? :D
Some people say, the Dan Moi must "sing", I have to find out what that means...
